BREEDERS' INTERESTS

THAMES VALLEY CLUB 'r [BY TELEGRAFH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PAEROA, Tuesday A meeting of the Thames Valley Breeders' Club on Saturday decided to send protests to the Minister of Agriculture and to the member for the district against the finding of the Dairy Commission recommending the abolition of the official testing systems in favour of group herd-testing. It was also decided to ask the Now Zealand Council to take the matter up. The recommendation of the Dairy Commission that only bulls from tested cows should bo sold as pedigree bulls was also criticised by Mr. G. Buchanan, who stated that as a result no bulls from heifers could bo sold. It was decided to enter a protest against this finding also. The prohibition of the skimming of starter milk was also discussed, Mr. Buchanan pointing out that if this had been allowed some cheese factories would be able to pay out ljd per'lb. more than at present. It was decided to ask tho Jersey Council to take up the question.
