CRICKETER INJURED

WRIST BROKEN IN FIELDING INSURANCE SCHEME WANTED The management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association had before it last evening a letter from the Parnell Club stating that one of its junior players,, while fielding for his team at Victoria Park, had the misfortune to break a wrist. This was the third serious accident Buffered by a Parnell player during a period of three seasons. Each mishap had interfered with the victim's work and in one case led to permanent disablement. The Parnell Club complained that, in spite of frequent applications by its club's delegates for three years, no steps had been taken by the association towards inaugurating a players' insurance scheme, a procedure regarded by all other sports bodies as essential.

After some discussion, it was decided to approach several insurance companies with a view to establishing some kind of scheme which would cover players in tho event of injury.
