FURTHER AVALANCHES
FORESTS DEMOLISHED ISOLATION OF VILLAGES AUSTRIAN FAMILY'S FATE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 8, 10.1J5 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 8 A message from Geneva states that further avalanches are reported from all parts of the Alps. Entire forests have been demolished, bridges destroyed and villages isolated. The famous hospice of St. Bernard is Completely snowed in, and the monks' only exit is through the wirjdows on the top floor.
Bombs are being used to break up huge accumulations of snow on the heights above the Bernina railway. The Vienna correspondent of the Times says an avalanche at Gargullen overwhelmed two houses, and five people were killed, including a mother and her two children.
