LOAN FOR IMPROVEMENTS APPROVAL by ratepayers [BY TELEGRaPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Friday A poll of Tauranga borough ratepaj'ers oil a proposal to raise a loan of £20,000 for waterworks improvements resulted in the proposal being carried by 410 votes to 58. The schemo provides for replacing existing seven-inch water mains with twelve-inch mains and improving the reticulation by replacing a number of smaller pipes, with a seven-inch main. It is claimed that the new system will give about live times the present delivery of water from the Waiorahi stream and liable the Borough Council vto supply adjacent districts at Gate Pa, Jiidea. Otumoetai and probably Mount Maunganui. It is expeited that the townspeople will have the extra supply operating by the time th< y are called upon to pay the additional rate, which will be largely counl erbalanced by a reduotion in fire insur; nee premiums and the increased num wr of consumers!.
