The Whangarei County Council requested the Main Highways Board during its recent North. Auckland tour, to exercise its powers under the Act in appointing the cost of renewing the Brewery Bridge as between the Whangarei Borough Council and County Council, whose boundary the bridge opanjj.

At the County Council meeting today the clerk, Mr. H. 0. Hemphill, suggested that arrangements might be made to repair the present bridge, which would suffice for several years. By that time the county arid borough would be in a better financial position to replace the bridge with a concrete structure. ... ..

The engineer, Mr. J. Norris, said the bridge could be rendered quite safe for five years at a cost of £IOO in repair work.

The council decided to adopt the suggestion, subject to the approval of the Highways Board.
