The game was played in fine weather conditions and on a good green. The Carlton rink was the most consistent and was ably served by Lhtle, who, as lead, in the latter part of the match, placed shot after shot on the jack with remarkable accuracy. On the second head both teams had scored one point, but after De Launay had taken the next with onis shot, fine bowling by Flowerday in playing two counters enabled Robertson to add a third and take the lead, 4—2. A single on the next and four on the sixth to De Lnunay saw the Carlton team lending 7—A. Flowerday continued to bowl accurately and had both his shots as counters on the seventh head, which was won by Onehunga with four. This put Onehunga again in the lead. Robertson unluckily gave De Launay one on the next head. In the enrly part of the next, Carlton was lying four following fine drawing by Little and Jenkin. These, however, were cut out by Livingstono and Robertson, the latter adding a second to. make the score: —Robertson, 10; De Launay. 8. Two sue. cessive singles to the Carlton team on the following two hea-ds again evened the position, after which Robertson luckily scored two after intending to burn the head. Scores, 16—11, Good efforts by Jenkin and Higgott gave Carlton four cn the next head, placing them one behind their opponents, while a two on the 16th again gave the Carlton rink the lead. The game was most interesting at this stage, and good play by both sides was well applauded by a large gallery.
