WEDDINGS

FINDLAY—LA VIE A charming wedding was celebrated at. the Holy Trinity Church, Devonport, last evening, when Miss Gwendolen Gertrude La Vie, only daughter of Mrs. Horace A. Scott,- Macky Avenue, Cheltenham, and-the late Mr. G. S. La Vie, Christchurch, was i married to Dr. Gordon Neville Findlay, elder son of Mr." and Mrs. Peter Findlay, Dunedin. The-Rev. V. Salmon officiated. The bride, who. was given away by Mr. Horace A. Scott, wore a beautiful frock of magnolia satin cut on classical, lines. The bodice, made with long tight-fitting sleeves, had a cowl neck'line in front and was finished at the back with a row of tiny satin buttons. The skirt fitted ■ closely to the knees and from there flared gracefully into a small train.' Attached to the shoulders with bunches of orange blossom was a long square-cut train of magnolia satin lined with shell-pink georgette over which fell an exquisite veil of Limerick, lace, which had been lent by Mrs. Stewart Palmer, of Auckland. The veil was arranged in a cap effect with a wreath of orange blossom encircling the back of the neck. She carried a sheaf of lilium auratum. The bride was attended by Mrs. Levvy Cooke, as matron of honour, Miss Peggy Hilson (Christchurch), and Miss Eleanor Worsp, as bridesmaids, and Janie Gillies (Wellington), and Shirley Kent, as flower-girls. The first three attendants , wore. frocks similarly fashioned in shades of maize, pale blue and pale green hailstone net respectively, each being, worn over a satin slip in a deeper shade. Cut on princess lines the bodices had double cape sleeves and the waistlines were finished with wide knotted sashes of matching satin. They wore black lace 1 mittens and coronet head-dresses of flowers. Early Victorian posies of mixed flowers were carried. The flower girls were in shell-pink hailstone net frocks with tight Empire bodices .and ankle-length frilled: skirts finished-with a pink- satin sash. Wreaths of forget-me-nots were worn round their heads and they carried Victorian posies. The bridegroom was attended by Dr. A. Mcllro.y (New Plymouth), as best man, and by Dr. R. McGill and Mr/Phillip La Vie as groomsmen. A, 'reception was held at the • Esplanade Hotel, Devonport, Mrs. Scott receiving in a graceful frock of goblein-blue georgette and lace. She carried • a sheaf of pirik carnations. Mrs.- Findlay was "V'® frock of reseda-green georgette ana lace, and a picture - hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of tangerine and rustcoloured gerberas. RUSSELL—ROLLESTON The wedding took place at St. Mary's Church, Timaru, this week of Rosamond, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Rolleston, of Timaru, to John, second son of Major-General Sir Andrew Russell and Lady Russell, of Tunu Nui, Hastings. The Rev. H. W. Monaghan officiated. The church was charmingly decorated with pink roses and delphiniums, which made Kn aHistic settiiig for the wedding group.. Jhe bride was escorted by her father, and wore a classically-cut gown of off-white satin made with a long train falling from the waist of Limerick lace. The corsage was made with a square neckline, with satin roses at each point, and was finished at the waist with a bo'W and ends, the sleeves being close fitting. The veil of old Brussels net was worn with a ..halo of orange blossom, and a sheaf of cream gladioli was carried. The bridesmaids were Misses K. Ormond (Hawke's Bay), Christine Williams (cousin of the bridegroom) and Margaret a!nd Rachael Rolleston (sisters of the bride). A little trainbearer was Phillippji , Barker. Iho bridesmaids' frocks were of delphinium blue, with the necklines high in front and. V-shaped at the back, edged with narrow pleating. The small puffed sleeves were trimmed to match. Picture hats were wprn of white straw with plain hands of blue, and the bouquets they carried were of pink carnations. The little girl was in a Kate Greenaway frock of dephinium blue and wore a wreath of small pink roses on her head, a matching posy .being carried. Captain J. Goring-Johnston was best man and the ushers were Messrs. John Rolleston, John Ormond (Hawke's Bay) and W. *K. Hargreavea. Pink . and bluo flowers were used in the decorations at the home of the bride, these carrying out the wedding scheme of colour. Mrs. Rolleston received the guests wearing a frock of navy marocain lightly patterned in beige under a plain navy coat, and a matching wide-brimmed straw hat with a navy and white band. Lady Russell, mother ,of the bridegroom, wore a frock of brown floral georgette arid a brown hat. Her bouquet was of 1 crimson -carnations..
