Record water consumption

The consumption of water in Birkenhead last month was 5,270,000 gallons, a record for any month, according to a report received by the Northcote Borough Council last night from its Waterworks engineer. The consumption for December was 4,386,000 gallons. The surface of Lake Pupuke had fallen 9in. during the month. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, reported the interview held with the Main Highways Bourd by Mr. E. C. Fowler a »d himself regarding; the permanent surfacing of Dnewa Road. A donation of £2 2s was made to the Prize fund of the Northcote and Birkenhead legauta.
