TEAM FOR NEW PLYMOUTH FERSEN'S CUP PROSPECTS [by telegraph-—OWN correspondent] HAWERA, Monday Aca Khan and Fersen,, who both won *t Wanganui on Thursday, were restricted to light exercise on the Hawera tracks this morning. Ajja Khan's cup victory was one oi: the best efforts of laia career, and. ha has never looked , better. Yj'ith 9.1 in tho Taranaki Cup next Thursday he will have a much harder ta.sk, and Fersen, whose performances since arriving from Australia have been most encouraging, may be preferred in view of his light impost. Carfex hss been cnusing a lijtle anxiety lately and hia trainer, J. Brown, hat) decided to reserve him for tho Hawera meeting. ' A new arrival on the B.uwera trac.£s iB the Mercis.n King gelding: Doinbey, who was purchased at Xre:atham by Mr. W. Simson, of Waver ley, ovrner of Silver Wines, for 130 guineas. It will probably be Esstei-time before he is asked to rr.ee again. Gibraltar attends I.he track daily, doing ■low work He has a very doubtful-looking leg and will not be cent along until tho tracks become softer. March Alone and Beau Star are the Hawera hurdla representatives to compete at New Plymouth The adage " horses, for courses" applied, and Beau Star won nicely at his last appearance ou the track. Although he has been up only a short tnno after his spell, March Alone has got through 6cm'e solid work and has displayed improvement in schooling. ~ An interesting acceptor for tho Isganiotu Juvenile Handicap is Link Divine, who has gone on iu the right a-ay lately. Ihe Nigger Minstrel—Kecharche filly Exquisite is still B little big in condition and is hardly likely to be fancied jufit yet. The Diacquenod Vivo three-ypar-cld Daivet har, not shown anything.remarkable in his track work. Hawera has two prommnq maidens. Panlof! and Lady Eka. engaged m the Motuloa Electric Hack. .Both have been working attractively. , Silk Sox, Biagano and . St, Clara aro classy hacks and will bo right at the top of their form at New Plymouth, lutri is doing splendidly in his work and should scon reward/bis owner-trainer, J. rryer, vith a win. Onewhetu and Gold Gleam are also likely propositions. v BOOKMAKER TRICKED INCIDENT AT RAND WICK [from our own correspondent] SYDNEY, Jun. 31 A fairly prominent bookmaker was relieved of £lB4 very uimply at the settling over thj anniversary meeting at Randwick this week.
