TWO ACCUSED SENTENCED INFLUENCE OF LIQUOR "The y must treat you extremely well at Mount Eden; in fact, 1 know they do," said Mr. \7. R. McKean, S.M., m the Police Court yesterday, when Ada Lndbury, domestic, aged 51, who charged with shoplifting, pleaded to be sent to prison instead of the inebriates' institution at Pakatoa Island. Charges of stealing a pair of shoes valued at 22s Od, two celluloid dolls, valued at 9s 6d, and two cups, yalued at 2s, were preferred against Jjadbury and Margaret Moore, domesP c > aged 4i. Further charges of steal]ng two pairs of child's shoes, a pair °» lady's shoes and four lengths of doth, of a total value of £4 lis sd, pairs of silk stockings, valued is 10(1, wore made against Moore. ■Hens of guilty were entered to all charges. Senior-Detective Hall said that, when {""rested, both accused were under the i influence oi'.liquor. A search of Moore's house revealed the articles mentioned ln the latter two charges. Both accused had rather formidable lists of Previous convictions. Liquor gets the best of these two paid Mr. Noble, counsel for Reused, "and they lose all sense of responsibility."
