POULTRY FIELD DAY

BIRKDALE FARM VISITED A. field day, organised by the newlyformed Birkenhead Poultry Soeiety, was held on Saturday afternoon at Birkdale at the Argyle Poultry Farm in Roseberv Avenue. The property, carrying some 2000 White Leghorns, was inspected by the visitors. Rows of laying-houses, some containing 100 hens, and others 50, attracted most interest. The visitors, who were welcomed by the president, Mr. A. E. Knowles, were later addressed by Mr. H. Evans, a member of the New Zealand Poultry Board, and by Mr. E- C. Jarrett, Government poultry inspector. Afternoon tea was served by a ladies' committee under the supervision of Mesdames A. E. Knowles, A. Richards (secretary), and J. R. Hoy^
