POWER BOARD VACANCY
TWO NOMINATIONS RECEIVED Two nominations have already been received for the election to fill the vacancy on tho Auckland Electric-Power Board caused by the death of Mr. John Rowe. The two candidates nominated are Mr. George Ashley and Mr:- S. W. House. Nominations close at noon next Wednesday and tho election, which is on a ratepayers' franchise, is to take place on February 4. t Mr. George Ashley, who is managingdirector of Ashley's, Limited, Karangaliape Road, was a member of the Auckland City ConnciJ from 1927 to 1931, when a period of ill-health necessitated his retirement.. He was also a member of tho Auckland Transport Board for its first term in 1929 and 1930. Mr. Ashley has been of the Karangahape Road Business Promotion Society and Vice-president of the Federation of Drapers and Boot Retailers of New Zealand, Mr. House has been a member of the Manukau County Council for 17 years and a member of the Mnngere Domain Board for 24 years. He was one of tho original members of tho Eden-Ma nukau Electric-Power Board and took part in the amalgamation which resulted in the formation of the present board.
