EMPIRE AIR MAILS WAY TO DARWIN LOST PILOT'S MISADVENTURE JOURNEY FINALLY COMPLETED By Telegraph—Press Association— CopyriEht (Eeceived January 16. 7.35 p.m.) DARWIN. Jan. 16 The Imperial Airways liner Athena, carrying Empire air mails, while on a night flight from Koepang to Darwin ran into a storm last night and was blown far off her course. The pilot wirelessed distress messages, which were picked up at Darwin, saying " I believe I am lost, my petrol is almost exhausted." Finally the pilot made a forced landing at Point- Stuart, 60 miles east of Darwin. The machine was not damgA Qantas aeroplane was immediately despatched to make a search and tho pilot located the Athena early this morning, lhe former oamaged her propeller in landing so the pilot transferred his petrol to the Athena, which then completed the journey to Darwin. The mails are nearly two days late, mainly owing to a mishap at Karachi.
