SATURDAY AT WARKWORTH RODNEY ADOPTS THURSDAY [by TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WARKWORTH. Wednesday Saturday was fixed as the statutory half-holiday for the Warkworth town district for 1935 at a special meeting of the Town Board. Members were unanimous that it was time local bodies throughout the Dominion fixed the same half-holiday. It was suggested that if they could not agree the Government should intervene to secure a universal half-holiday. At to-day's special meeting of tho Rodney County Council held to fix the 'statutory* half-holiday, a deputation from storekeepers and sports bodies throughout the county urged the council to revert to tho Saturday ( halfholiday. A counter-deputation ' from storekeepers at Wellsford and ratepayers in the surrounding asked that the council adhere to the Thursday half-holiday. After considerable discussion tho proposal for a Saturday half-holiday was rejected by 5 votes to 4. Thursday was then adopted by 5 votes to 3.
