IRAK OIL SUPPLIES

NEW PIPE-LINE OPENED FLOW TO MEDITERRANEAN BAGDAD, Jan. 11 Fourteen aeroplanes and a special train conveyed distinguished guests from Bagdad to Kirkuk to-day to see King Ghazi of Irak press a button and start a stream of oil on its way to the Mediterranean by means of the new British-constructed pipe-line, built for an annual capacity of 4,000,000 tons. The fleet of aeroplanes was specially chartered for the occasion. Thu King spoke in both Arabic and English. "When he set the stream of oil in motion, he started it on a journey through fire countries to the coast. The pipe-line was constructed by the International Irak Petroleum Company, containing British, French, American and Dutch interests. The 1200 miles of piping was laid at a cost of £10,000,000, mostly across a barren, waterless desert. The line runs in duplicate from Kirkuk to Haditha, where it divides into two —a southern branch leading to Haifa in Palestine, and a northern on* to Tripoli.
