POWER AT WHANGAREI
QUESTION OF SUPPLIES COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE DEFINED [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Tuesday The Whangarei Borough Council's attitude toward the North Auckland Tower Board's proposal for the borough to purchase electric power from the board was determined at a meeting last evening, when the council confirmed the recommendation of a special committee. The recommendation stated that the question was governed f»y the two agreements entered into with Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Limited, and that there was a very real and grave danger in interfering in any way with those agreements, especially in view of the fact that the North Auckland Power Board had no power to offer, and could not have, under the most favourable conditions, for some years to come.
