The Governor-General, Lord Bls)i s . loe, and Lady Bledisloe attended the opening of the Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting at Ellerslie yesterday afternoon. In the evening the ball in honour of His Royal Highness'the Duke of Gloucester was given at Government House.

This afternoon Their Excellencies are giving a garden party at Government House, commencing at 3.45, in honour of the Duke. It is particularly requested that guests attending the party should bring •with them their cards of admittance. The entrance to be used is the one at the Princes Street corner of tfca grounds.
