Menzel volleyed dashingly and displayed uncanny court-craft. Q.uiist defeated Maier, 6 —i, 7—5. Schwartz replaced de Stefani, who is suffering from blistered feet, and defeated Bronnvich in an exhibition game, 7—5,'6 —4. In the doubles Quist and Turnbull defeated Maier and Menzel, 2—6, 6 —3, 13 —11 (forfeited). Australia won nine rubbers and Europe two.
