WEEK-END SPORT
A FULL PROGRAMME OCEAN YACHTING RACE Apart from its importance to the community as the period immediately preceding the Christmas celebration, the present week-end offers a full programme of attractions. The numbers of visitors to the city will more than compensate for those who have already left on motoring tours or yachting cruises. The first-grade contests in the Auckland Cricket Association's competitions will be continued at Eden Park and the North Shore, while there will be trial matches under the auspices of the City and Suburban Association at the. Domain. The Auckland Tennis Association will hold a championship tournament at the Stanley Street courts this afternoon. Numerous club and inter-club events will be held for bowlers, while yachtsmen will be especially well catered lor. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will conduct an ocean race to Orakawa, Bay of Islands, as the main interest. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will hold a carnival at Western Springs, while races will, be held at Papatoetoe by the Aucklan Cycling Club.
