Sir. —In his letter to the Hkkai.o of December 20 G. Dunnet certainly finds a formula in his first sentence which should appeal to pacifists and soldiers alike. He then suggests the scrapping of our death-dealing machines and the search for temporarily disabling gases instead. Might I alter his proposal slightly?
