THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE fair volume of business A fair volume of business was transacted on the Auckland St nek Exohango yesterday. Levels generally, except in Government loans, were steady to slightly firmer. Buyers for Government loans did not operate as freely as on the previous dav and offers were easier. In 4 per cent bonds, the 1910 issue was taken at £lO3 ss, an' easing of 15s compared with the Inst sale a month ago, while the 1949 issue sold at £lO7, a fall of £2 E inre the last sale in October. Transactions at current rates were completed in 1946 bonds and 1940 4 per cent stock. The 1949 stock showed an easing of 5s on sale at £lO6 15s. A feature of trading in banks was a sale of Commercials of Sydney at £l7 16s 6d, the first in Auckland since September, 1933. New Zealands sold twice at 4Ss lOd, Tuesday's price, and later ■n-ere done at f 495. The market closed firm with more sought at this price. Commercials of Australia gained 4d in a sale at 16s. In the insurance section New Zealands continued their upward trend and were taken twice at 68s 6d, an advance of 6d. South British had sale unchanged at 96s 6d, but buyers were a shade easier., The B preference issue of Farmers' C'o-operative Auctioneering showed a gain of 3d on sale at 20s 9d, while Auckland Gas (contributing) were taken unchanged at 19s 6d. Renown 'Collieries (preference) were steady in a sale at 2s. while two sales of Kauri Timbers at ISs 9d registered an advance of 2d. A gain of Is Id was made by Claude Neon (Sydney 1 ), which changed hands at 52s 6d, while Dunlop Perdriaus were 2d easier at 19s Bd. Sales at current levels were made in Byerofts, Farmers' Tradings, Milne and C'hoyce debenture etock and Northern Roller Mills.
