ACTIVITY. IN THE CITY ELEVEN MONTHS' INCREASE ADVANCE OF OVER £200,000 PERMITS ISSUED IN NOVEMBER Building permits issued by the Auckland City Council in November totalled 146 and represented work valued in the aggregate at, £70,581), compared with £20,5 ( J3 for the same month of last year. The. valuation is also higher than the figure of £52,015 for October and is the highest monthly return for this year siuco March, when the total value of building permits was £92,314 The total for the month just ended was made up largely of the cost of a new block of flats to be erected for Courtvillo, Limited, tie contract for which is.in the -vicinity of £55,000. The aggregate for the eleven months of this year is over £200,000 greater than that for the corresponding period of last year. The values of all permits for the last three 11-monthly periods are shown in the following table:—

Since the beginning of the year permits for >l6O dwellings have been granted, compared with 121 for the first 11 nionthii in 1033 and 57 for the eame period in 1932. Included in the 28 permits for dwellings issued last month were several for homes costing over £IOOO.
