SPORT FOR TO-DAY
CARNIVAL AT EPSOM ALL CRICKET POSTPONED The principal sports attraction to be held in Auckland to-day will be the carnival conducted by the Auckland Trotting Club and the Auckland Cricket Association at Alexandra Park, Epsom. An attractive programme of events has been arranged, and, to ensure the success of the carnival, the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association and the Ladies* Cricket Association have postponed their matches for to-day. Athletic events, boxing, wrestling and a draught-horse Derby will be features of the meeting. The Auckland rowing season will be virtually openefl this afternoon, when inter-club events for the R. F. Bennett Memorial Shield will be decided at Devonport. Among yachting events will be a cruising race to Awaroa conducted by the Akarana Yacht Club. Interesting fixtures have been arranged by the other clubs. The third round of the Auckland Bowling Centre's pennant competition will be contested on various city and suburban greens and inter-club competitions will be held by tho Auckland Lawn Tennis Association.
Members of the Takapuna Surf Club will take part in the first carnival of the season at Takapuna Beach this afternoon.
