AIR MAIL DESPATCHED

LETTERS FROM AUCKLAND AUSTRALIA-ENGLAND SERVICE Scheduled to reach London on December 24, over 4200 letters were despatched from Auckland yesterday to connect with the first flight of the Aus-tralia-Singapore air mail service on the air route to Kngland. The service on the new section will be inaugurated at Brisbane 011 December 10. The New Zealand portion of the mail consisted of 4065 ordinary letters and 152 registered packages, the total weight of the mail being 831b. lO^oz. For Great Britain there were 3626 ordinary letters and 128 registered packages and for other places beyond Great Britain there were 439 ordinary letters and 24 registered packages. The mail was despatched for Australia bv the Matson liner Monterey, which will arrive in Sydney on Monday.
