WHAT IS INDEPENDENCE?
APT PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDY That catch word of the post-war generation " independence " is the theme around which Jeftery Marston s new novel " Andromeda " is written. The story deals with two women, separated in age by a generation. First there is Evelyn Dighton, who, in spite of the horror and humiliation of her marriage, remains patient and loyal until the war comes, when everything but her faith is broken down. Then there is her niece, Noel Ilegnart, in whose mind has been instilled practically from birth by her artistic and thoroughly unconventional father the value of independence. The Avar acting as a liberating force to Noel, she shakes off the shackles of convention and proceeds to shape her life according to the claims of her own personality. The book shows a remarkable insight into human nature on the part of the author, and also serves to indicate how Blender is the dividing line between independence and complete selfishness.
