PUBLIC SERVICE TOURNEY SIXTY TEAMS PARTICIPATE ROWELL AND DIXON IN FINAL The fourteenth annual public service pairs tournament was played on the Auckland and Mount Eden Bowling Club s greens yesterday when sixty teams representing thirteen State departments took part in the play. On the Auckland* green the president of the Public Service Bowling Association, Mr. A. E. Howell (Police Department), welcomed the players, and the vicepresident, Mr. ,T. E. Green (Post and Telegraph Department), performed a similar duty on the Mount Eden green. On both greens sympathetic reference was made to the loss sustained by the death of an enthusiastic member, the late Mr. R. Burrell. Conditions for play were excellent, the greens being very keen and the weather was ideal. A very enjoyable day was spent by the service bowlers. 1' ' v e rounds of fourteen heads were played and only three bowls were used.
