TAURANGA DAIRYING

INFLUENCES UPON OUTPUT LOCAL MARKET FOR CREAM [by telegraph—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Monday A slightly lower output for the early months of the current season ih comparison with that for the same period of the last season was reported by the chairman of the Tauranga Co-operative Dairy Association, Limited, Mr. P. T. Keam, at the half-yearly meeting today. The decline was accounted for mostly by the dry weather in September and October and because of the' smaller quantity of fertilisers being used. The number of suppliers had increased from 480 last year to 485 this year and the average grade had shown a slight increase to date. A payment of 3d a pound would be made for March supply, which would complete last season's working and would bring the total payment to 8.95 d a pound ovor all grades. The local sales of butter to stores had increased by 22.3 per cent and to suppliers by 17.7 per cent. The meeting discussed the question of a supply of cream to the local market and it was pointed out that the factory could sell a large quantity but for the existing regulations. A motion was carried recommending the directors to take steps with a. view to having the regulations governing local supply altered to permit the sale of cream, after pasteurisation, direct from the factory.
