RED INDIANS RETURNING

PARTY FROM MELBOURNE AN UNPROFITABLE VENTURE [BY. TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON'. Monday Five American Red Indians who are returning from Melbourne to the United States are passengers by the Maunganui, which arrived here to-day from Sydney. They state they were engaged to take part in a wild Australian stampede during the Centenary celebrations, but the fixture was ruined by rain and, from a financial point of view, the visit had been disastrous to them. They would have been put out of their hotel had not a young American interested himself in their predicament. However, stated one of the party, although he had not five cents pay tram fare when he arrived in San Francisco, the experience the trip afforded had' been worth while. He paid a tribute to the reception given them by Australians.
