THE RUNNING OF TEMPEST ANGRY DEMONSTRATION [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] DUNEDIN, Saturday One of the worst demonstrations on a trotting course in recent years was made at Forbury Park to-day after Tempest, owned by Mr. G. J. Barton, had won the Forbury Handicap, and for some considerable time after the horses had returned to the birdcage an angry crowd hooted and demanded action to be taken by the stewards. Tempest, whose running on the first day had formed the subject of an inquiry, was driven a different race this time, and he came with a brilliant burst over the last two furlongs to win decisively. War Buoy, who was paying a very small dividend, ran a great race, but in its disappointment at having lost its money the crpwd made no secret of its feelings. _ Tempest could not have won if War Buoy had had any luck in the running, but. this aspect of the case was lost sight of by the demonstrators. On the first day Tempest was very badly driven, but on this occasion he had everything in his favour. The stewards were called together, but after a brief meeting decided that they were quite satisfied with the explanation given by the connections of Tempest. War Buoy has a record of 10 wins and one second and in defeat he proved himself a greater horse than e\ver, and the best of his age that has raced in New Zealand. The driving tactics adopted by M. B. Edwards did not help him. for he was hemmed in on the rails and could not get an opportunity to show his speed until his chance of winning had gone. When he did get clear he showed what he was made of and his effort to give Tempest 10 lengths start in two furlong- was marked by rare courage.
