MOTOR-CYCLE RACES
HOSEBANK *»AKK EVENTS SEVERAL MINOR SPILLS Some spectacular motor-cycle racing was witnessed at Rosebank Paris, Avondale, on Saturday afternoon, •when the Ixion Motorcycle Club conducted miniature Tourist Trophy races. The track was in good condition, although the loose, dry surface resulted in some exciting skids. There wore several spills durifig the afternoon, but none of the riders was injured. The fact that lout Of the five riders in the scratch event of Bit lapß, for machines up to 500 c.c., fell, lent excitement to the race. From the start J. Dale went into the lead and after one lap L, Nixon fell, btinfiring down C. Buchanan and F. Hookway. Matthews fell in the fourth lap. Dale won comfortably, Buchanan, who remgunted. finishing in second place, "Stxccessfwl attempts xm tbo lap record of 63s were made by 'two riders. H. Matthews completed the circuit of a littlo more than haif-a-mile in 69 4-5s and L. Nixon covered the distance in 60 2-ss. Results are:— Scratch Bace, si* laps, machines up to 600 c.c.—J. Perry (Velocette). scr, 1; C. Buchanan (Royal Enfield), 12s, 2. Time, 4m 16s. Final: Nixon, 1; Perry, 2. Handicap, four laps, machines up to 500 e.e.—First heat: W. Murray (Rurlsje), loa, 1; W. McCloy (Raleigh), 12s. 2. Time 4m 25 0-ss. Second heat: H. Matthews (Roval Enfield). Bs. 3; C. Buchanan (Royal Enfield), 12s, 2. Time, 4m 10 l-ss. Third bent: A. Bailey (Norton), 15s, 1; L.
