FIREMEN'S CONTESTS
SUBURBAN BRIGADES EVENTS AT-PAPATOETOE The annual team competitions under the auspices of the Auckland Suburban Fire Brigades' Association were held at Papatoetoe on Saturday. Nine brigades were represented: Takapuna, Northcote, Onehunga, Mount Eden, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe, Mount Wellington, Pukekohe and Waiuku. The contests, with shields as trophies, were in two separate divisions and teams of three and two firemen were seen in action using snap couplings and screw couplings. In "the latter section the Onehunga Brigade team won the shield with an aggregate of 36J points, Takapuna being with 27. The snap couplings section was won by Otahuhu with 35 points, Onehunga being runner-up with 30 points. Detailed results are as follows: Screw Events;— team: Papatoetoe, time 36 2-ss, 1; Onehunga, 37. 3-ss, 2; Mount "Wellington, 43 2-ss, 3.
