CHARGE AGAINST KISCH
CROWN SEEKS ALTERATION GAELIC LANGUAGE TEST (Received November 23. 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 23 In the Central Police Court, Sydney, to-dav the Crown sought to alter the charge against the Czecho-Slovakian author Egon Kisch of being a prohibited immigrant, to one of "having failed to pass the dictation test required by the Immigration Act." Mr. A. B. Piddington, K.C., for Kisch, strenuously objected to the alteration. Also he questioned the use of Gaelic, in which language the test was made. He argued that the point the Court would have to decide was whether Gaelic is a living European language. Counsel's argument was not concluded when the hearing was adjourned until Monday.
