TRUCK THROUGH BRIDGE
SUSPENDED BY WIRE OCCUPANTS' NARiROW ESCAPE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent! PUTARURT7. Friday Two occupants of a light truck had a remarkable escape from injury late this afternoon when their vehicle ran off a bridge on the Arapuni-Horahora Road, close to Horahora, and was suspended for several hours by two lengths of wire 20ft. above the Little Waipa River.
The truck was proceeding from Horahora to Arapuni. When crossing the bridge it left the decking and tore through the side of the structure. The largo sedan cab on the truck was caught by the fencing wire at the sido of the bridge, and but for this the truck would have plunged into Bft. of water.
When the vehicle came to rest both occupants managed to leap to the bank and escape injury. Lenthy salvage operations were necessary to bring the truck back to the road. The truck and bridge were severely damaged.
