AVIATION MARVEL
CLAIMS FOR ROBOT PILOT INVENTION BY GERMAN LONDON, Nov. 18 The Sunday Dispatch says a German inventor has produced a new robot pilot, with a mechanical brain, which enables an aeroplane to rise to a required height and fly on a required course and speed, irrespective of the human pilot, who takes off in the machine and then sits back.
The robot pilot also is equipped with several wireless systems, two of which assist in landing. One shows on the dashboard a miniature beacon, corresponding to the centre of an aerodrome, which moves across a dial if the aeroplane deviates. Another sounds a note which varies if the aeroplane is off the course. These unprecedented combinations make the finest fog beater in the history of aviation. The British Air Ministry and Imperial Airways experts nave flown an aeroplane equipped with the device and are greatly impressed with its possibilities.
