NEW CITY BUILDING
DINGWALL TRUST BLOCK TENDERS BEING CONSIDERED The Dingwall Trust Board last night considered a number of tenders for the construction of■- the shop and office building which it is proposod to erect on a site on the western side of Queen Street, almost opposite Fort Street. No final decision could be made as a number of minor points have yet to be decided.
The building was designed by Messrs. Gummer and Ford and Partners and will be of five storeys. It will have a frontage of 40 feet to Queen Street and a depth of approximately 130 feet. Provision is made in the plan for carrying the structure to the full height limit of 102 feet by the addition of three storeys when this extra accommodation is warranted. The building is to be constructed throughout of reinforced concrete and features have been incorporated in the design which have been shown' to be necessary as a result of investigations following major earthquakes in other parts of New Zealand.
There will be three shops at the Queen Street level, two on the frontage and one at the rear with access by a central corridor. The higher floors have been so planned that it will be possible to subdivide to suit the requirements of tenants. The building will be thoroughly modern in all respects.
