TECHNICAL COLLEGE
HOME SERVICE POSITIONS SCHEME FOR CERTIFICATES The Seddon Memorial Technical College Board of Managers is at present considering the possibility of issuing certificates to girls qualified for home service positions. At a meeting of the board yesterday a report was received from a committee set up to investigate the question. The committee suggested that it would probably be necessary for the college to undertake the registration of prospective employers and of girls desiring homo service positions; the conduct of examinations in at least four ?;rades so that home workers would lave their qualifications fairly definitely represented; and the appointment of a member of the domestic science staff of the collego who would act as vocational officer in meeting employers and arranging for workers to fill positions coming to her notice. It was decided to hold a conference with the Home Service Association before taking further action. The breaking-up ceremony of the college was fixed for 2 p.m. on December 13. Gratification with the artistic and financial success of the college concert was expressed by members. It was reported that as a result over £7O had been forwarded to the crippled children's fund of tho Auckland Rotary Club.
The chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, reported that the college would be open for inspection by pnrents and others interested from 1.30 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. to-morrow.
