LOSS TO STAGE

MR. DION TITHERADGE . AUSTRALIAN ACTOR DEAD LONDON. Not. 16 The death has occurred, after .an operation, of Mr. Dion Titheradge, actor, brother of Miss Madge Titheradge, also a famous stage personality. Both were natives of Melbourne. Mr. Titheradge -wrote several plays, and acted in most of the leading theatres in England. He toured New Zealand some years before the war. The Daily Telegraph says Mr. Titheradge would have been a greater figure if his poor health had not stood in the way. He was a sound actor, but was best known as the writer of "Crooked Billet," an extremely workmanlike "thriller." Apart from his theatrical capacity he was a most modest, unassuming and pleasant man. The late Mr. Dion Titheradge was a member of a well-known Australian family. He was born in Melbourne in 1889, and made his first appearance on the stage in 1908. Later he toured Australia and New Zealand and played many parts. In 1910 he was with Sir Lewis Waller's company. In 1911 he joined the Liverpool Repertory Company. Later he played in America and again in England, and also produced various plavs and revues. On February 2, 1928, he was married to Miss Madge Stuart^
