DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET
BUTTER A SHADE EASIER FURTHER FALL IN STOCKS CHEESE ALSO DECLINES Prices for New Zealand butter on the London market are a shade easier at *4s to 76s per cwt. The market is slow and little business is passing. Following recent activity, f.o.b. business was much quieter during the past week.
Stored stocks of New Zealand butter in London were reduced over the week by "1028 tons to 5158 tons, which compares with. 2800 tons held last year Australian stocks at 2638 tons sbow a risft of a few tons for the week.
The cheese market also is quiet and values are lower by about fid per cwt. Merchants have received the following cablegrams, dated November 16. from their London principals;— Mr. H. S. Withers, from A. C. Howson.—Butter: First, 745; finest, 75s to 70s. Cheese: White, 525; coloured, 51s. The demand for both butter and cheese "is very slow and both markets have a weaker tendency. New Zealand Producers' Co-opera-tive Marketing Association, Limited. — Butter: New • Zealand, 73s to 755; Danish, 119s. The market is dull and there is very little doing. Cheese: White, 51s; coloured, 50s. The market is dull with less inquiry, A. H. Turnbull and Company, Limited, from W. Weddel and Company. Limited.—Butter: Danish, 120s to I 1225; New Zealand, salted, 74s to 765; i Australian, 73s to 755. Cheese: White, 51s 6d to 525; coloured, 51s to 525. Both markets are slow. Allen and Findlay, Limited, from Armour and Company, Limited.—Butter: New Zealand, salted, 74s to 765; unsalted, 76s to 78s; Australian, 74s to 755; Danish, 120s. Cheese: New Zealand, whiie, 525; coloured, 51s to 525; Canadian, 53s 6d. Both markets are slow.
DAIRY BOARD'S REPORT The New Zealand Dairy Produce i Board has received the following market report from its London office, under date November 16, figures for the previous week being given in parentheses:— Butter. —New Zealand, salted, 74s to 765, ex 775, equals approximately 8.58 d, f.o.b. (76s to 775); unsalted. 70s to 78s (76s to 80s). Deliveries: New Zealand, 1846 tons (last year, IUOO tons); in store, 5158 tons (last year, 2800 tons). Australian, salted, 74s to 755, ex. 76s (75s to 765); unsalted, 75s to 76s (76s to 775). Deliveries: Australian, 1604 tons (last year, 1400 tons); in store, 2638 tons (last year, 875 tons). Danish, 100s f.0.b., 120s to 122s spot (103s, 1245); Dutch, unsalted, 82s to 92s (80s to 90s); Estonian, salted and unsalted. 72s to 745; Lithuanian, salted, 72s to 745; unsalted, 72s to 775; Polish, salted. 67s to 68s (68s to 70s). The market is slow. Danish retail price increased to Is 3d; New Zealand, unchanged, 9d. The Imperial Economic Committee's estimated stocks, all butters, 877,630 boxes (last year, 563,130 boxes). Cheese. —New Zealand, white, 52s up to 52s 6d, f.0.b., 5.68 d (54s to 54s 6d); coloured, 51s 6d to 525, 5.62 d, f.o.b. (53s to 545). Deliveries: New Zealand. 15,883 crates (last year. 14,000 crates); in store, 80,571 crates (last year, 34,000 crates). Canadian, white, 55s (54s to 555); coloured, 55s to 56s (54s to 565). Deliveries: Canadian, 14,286 boxes (last year, 10,000 boxes); in store, 136,434 boxes (last year, 176.793 boxes). The market is slow. New Zealand retail price unchanged, 7d. English finest farmers, 82s to 8&s, steady (82s to 88s). The board has received the following advice from its agents in Canada:— Butter: New York, 30 cents; Montreal. 21 cents. Cheese gradings for the week ended November 10, 28,154 crates white, and 16,423 crates coloured.
