RENT.OF CROWN TENANTS A reply was received at a meeting of the executive of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union last night to a letter sent to ithe Minister of Lands, urging that (Drown tenants should be given the option of carrying on on a reduced basis of irent or interest as was done in many cases with incoming tenantß. The reply stated that permanent reductions in c'barges could not be granted in respect oic current leases and licences, owftig to the revaluation provisions of the Lsmd Act having been temporarily suspended. However, as necessity demanded, relief was being granted by way of part remission or postponement of charges. It was decided to reply that the position as stated was not in accordance with the _.facts known to the executive.
It was decided to accept the challenge issued by Mf. A. J. Sinclair, of Te Awamutu, to debate publicly the recently passed dairying legislation, on condition that Mr. Sinclair published the evidence he tendered to the Dairy Commission.
