COLLISION AT CROSSING

POKENO ACCIDENT SEQUEL FINE ON MOTORIST [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Monday A sequel to a serious collision which occurred between a train and a motorcar at Pokeno was heard in the Hamilton Police Court to-day, when the driver of the- car, Richard Knight Keith, was charged with attempting to cross a railway li»e when, it was engaged. Mr. King, who pleaded guilty on defendant's bohalf, said that defendant was driving up d steep grade toward the line. His view of the approaching' train w«\s obscured by trees and scrub. Extensive damage was done to the ear, and Keith and two passengers were injured. Keith had been put to considerable expense on account of the accident.

Defendant was fined 10s and costs. Another motorist, William Edward Mead, whose car was struck by a train in Hamilton, without serious results, was fined £1 for failing to keep a vigilant look-out.
