RUSSIAN BALLOON

INTO THE STRATOSPHERE SCIENTIFIC OBJECTIVE MOSCOW, Nov. 1 Russia has constructed a balloon which will be released during the next few days, the purpose of which is an ascent of 20 miles into the stratosphere. It will not carry a crew, but will be an aerial laboratory, equipped with numerous automatic instruments, designed by a meteorologist, Professor Molshanoif, to register air currents, ionisation and solar radiation in upper strata. j The ingenious contrivance will be the automatic radio transmitter, which at intervals will mechanically convey all the recorded measurements to Leningrad Radio Station.
