This Competition, the Entries for which closed on the HOth April last, and which was promoted to encouratfe the more closely study the Share and Debenture market, has now been finally decided by the Committee appointed for the purpose. The cost price of the Investment was taken as at the 30th April last, and the selling price us at the 31at October Last; but Profit was not the sole test, the judges taking into consideration the reasons advanced by the Entrant for his choice. Entries were received from all over the Dominion, and showed that the Entrants took a keen interest in the Competition and had a sound knowledge of the Investment market. The Prizes were awarded as follow*: FIRST £2s—to Mr. Honald R. Kemp, of Te Aroha. Stock chosen: Big River Gold. Mines — which showed a rise in market value of 166 p.c. since April 30th last. SECOND—£I2 10s—to Mr. J. T. Shrive of Putaruru Stock chosen: Taupo-Totara Timber Co. (Ord. shares). These shares rose in value 90 p.c. THlßD—£s—to Mrs. M. S. Cook, of Mt, Albert. Stock chosen: Fanners' Trading Co> (Ord. shares). These rose in value. 58 p.c. Cheques for the Prizes have been posted to the successful Entrants. Several other Competitors selected Farmers' Trading Company shares, but the reasons submitted by the Prize Winner were, in the opinion of the Committee, the best. A number of Entrants made excellent choices in selecting stockß such. asColonial Sugar Company and Woolworths Ord.. but were disqualified as the Competition was limited to Companies registered in New Zealand.
