TE AWAMUTU QUOTATIONS CATTLE AND PIGS SELL WELL The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports that at the firm's Te Awamutu stock sale on Thursday the yarding of cattle was a heavy one, comprising several pens of good quality bullocks, a large entry of fat cows and heifers—a good portion of which were well fattened —a heavy offering of culls, several pens of store steers and of yearling heifers, as well as a number of dairy cows and potter bulls. All sections of the cattle market met with good competition, and, while a total clearance was effected for fat stock, a substantial improvement was registered for cull cows, the store steers also meeting with a good sale. Yearling Jersey heifers were, as usual, dull of sale. Good quality heavy bullocks made £8 8s to £9 2s; medium quality, £7 10s to £8 ss: prime heavy fat cows, £6 10s to £8; good quality, £5 6s to £6 6s; medium, £4 10s to £5; light, £3 10b to £4 10s; killable, £2 15s to £8 7s 6d; forward, £2 5s to £2 12s 6d; good stores, £1 8s to £1 16s; inferior, 18s to £1 ss; small two to three-year Btore steers, £4 2s to £4 17s; inferior, £3 10s to £4j poor yearling Jersey heifers, £1 12s to £2; medium dairy cowb and heifers, id to £4 15s* herd bulls, £5 5s to £6 10s. The entry of sheep, consisting mostly of hoggets and a few pens of ewes and wethers, met a good market, and all were sold, with late values being fully maintained. YARDING AT MATAWHERO [by tei/egraph —OWN correspondent] GISBORNE. Friday There was only a small sale at the Matawhero yards to-day, entries in all sections, particularly the sheep, being poor. Two outstanding pens of Hereford and Polled Angus cows were offered in the fat cattle section, and these made £4 7s 6d and £4 10s The rest of the entry of 28 was uninteresting and sold at very easy figures. Only 99 fat sheep were yarded. Prices advanced on last week. Shorn ewes made 12s to 12s lOd; woolly ewes, 15s lOd; and second-grade shorn ewes, 10s.
