NEW MOTOR-SHIPS
DOMINION PRODUCE TRADE TOTAL OF ELEVEN ORDERED WAIPAWA'S FIRST VOYAGE On her maiden voyage, the Shaw, Savill and Albion i Company's new motor-ship Waipawa is reported to have left Liverpool for New Zealand on Monday. She is the second of three large motor-ships to be added to the company's fleet. The first one, the Waiwera, is also on her maiden voyage, and is at Bluff loading for Creat Britain. She will complete loathing at Gisborne, Napier, Wellington and Auckland. The third vessel, the Wairangi, is nearing completion, and will be commissioned shortly. Altogether, 11 large motor-ships have been ordered by shipping companies trading between Great Britain and New Zealand. In addition to the three for the Shaw, *Savill and Albion Company, another two were ordered by the Federal Line, and one of them, the Durham, is now-on her maiden voyags- to Australia. The construction of three vessels was undertaken by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, and the first, the Port Chalmers, has made a number of voyages to New Zealand and Australia. The second ship was launched recently. The Blue Star Line also ordered three large motor-ships, and the first, the Imperial Star, is to leave England for New Zealand on January 3 She will be followed by a second new vessel leaving England for New Zealand on February 20. All the new motor-ships will be fast vessels. They will be fitted with all the latest appliances for the carriage of New Zealand produce, accommodation being provided for chilled beef.
