CRASH INTO WINDOW

LORRY OUT OF CONTROL ACCIDENT AT DEVONPORT Suddenly moving forward out of a pathway where it was parked a lorry loaded with cement gathered speed and ran down Victoria Road, Devonport, about nine o'clock yesterday morning, crashing into the plate glass window of Mr. 0. W. Marks, draper. The vehicle, which is owned by Mr. F. W. Parsons, of Devonport, had been left beside a new building. The lorry moved across the main road, mounted the footpath, hit a wooden fence and then turned to the right, crossed over the road again on to the opposite footpath and crashed into the window coming to rest against a metal pillar. Its speed had been greatly reduced when it crossed the road the second time and a man made an attempt to apply the brakes, but had to jump clear as the lorry swerved between two poles supporting the shop verandah.

The lorry was damaged extensively
