SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION SHORTAGE OF PLAYING AREAS The shortage of grounds was discussed at last evening'B meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket' Association, when a letter was read from the Auckland City Council dealing with the allocation of wickets for the season. The chairman, Mr. J, Elliott, said there was altogether a scarcity of playing wickets, as cricket was becoming a more popular game each season.

The secretary, Mr. E. Stallworthy, said much of the present difficulty would be overcome if both the Auckland and Suburban Associations were to advise local bodies when wickets allocated were not going to bo used. It is a common thing, he said, for teams to default and the wickets not bo used. It was decided to consult the Auckland Cricket Association regarding better arrangements.

Several delegates spoke strongly about the condition of the pitches at Mount Roskill, where it was almost impossible to enjoy a game of cricket. It was pointed out that correspondence had been forwarded to the Mount Roskill 'Road Board which promised to provide better facilities in the near future. It was decided to express appreciation to the Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys Club for the use of gear in coaching operations.
