COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS BEEF VALUES IMPROVE [from OUJt OWN" C'OHIIKST'ONDKNt] HAMILTON, Tuesday A heavy yarding of fat sheep came forward at the Krankton saleyards today, the majority being wethers. Competition for wethers was easier, with prices slightly lower. A medium entry of ewes sold well at prices equal to those at last sale. Spring lambs sold at a little better than schedule rates. A smaller yarding than usual of ox beef came forward, including a big proportion of good quality cattle. All classes showed a decided improvement in values. The smaller yarding also applied to the cow and heifer section, with the result that values also showed an improvement. Store cattle sold equal to late rates. There was a heavy yarding of fat pigs, with prices still firm at last week's rates, while a medium entry of stores sold under keen competition at late advanced figures.
