MACHINE DESTROYED
THE HISTORIC CANBERRA NEW GUINEA NATIVE KILLED (Received November 4, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 4 A message from Rabaul, New Guinea, states that the historic aeroplane Canberra, a party in which discovered Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and Mr. C. T. P. Ulm when they were lost in the Southern Cross in Australia a few years ago, has been completely burnt in the Morobe district. The cause was a collision on the Lutheran Mission aerodrome.
The pilot and mechanic escaped unhurt, but a native was burnt to death. The late Captain Holden was the original owner of the machine.
