TRIAL FOURS POSTPONED Trial fours set down for decision by the North Shore Rowing Club were postponed on account of the unfavourable water conditions on the northern side of the harbour. The sheltered water at Cheltenham Beach, however, provided a good training ground for the, tlub's light maiden crew under the guidance of the club captain, E. Korn. HAMILTON CLUB'S OPENING [ from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Sunday There was an excellent attendance at thf Hamilton Rowing Club's quarters on ferry Bank yesterday afternoon, when the club's new season was opened. The weather conditions were excellent. The president, Mr. A. M. Bisley, referred to the value of rowing as a physical exercise, and said he was glad the club's membership had increased. The club "had an excellent plant, a recent addition being an eight-oared boat. Mr. Bisley wished the club a successful year, and formally declared the season open. HAMILTON CLUB'S FOURS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday The Hamilton Rowing Club held a series of trial fours yesterday afternoon, the results bein£ as follows: —Semi-final: Stuart fst.), Burell, Dodd and Smith beat Y/aters (st.), Kane. Bowling and Agnew by a length; Hare (st.). Blanche. J. W. Taylor and Jenkinson beat St. Clair (st.), Latham, Wright and Jackson by two lengths. Final: Hare's crew beat Stuart's crew by a lei gth.

Trundle, who has had rowing experience in England. \VI I ANG ARE I CREW'S SUCCESS [iRO.U OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Saturday An annual event was inaugurated this afternoon when the West Knd (Auckland) Rowing Club crew met the Whangarei Rowing Club crew in a mile race for the handsome cup presented by Mr. C. !v. Powell, of Whangarei, for annual competition between Ihe two clubs. The race .vas won by Whangare- ((). 10. Bindon (stroke), P (tardnei, 11. Patterson and C. Storey), v. ho took the lead at the start and held on to win by three lengths. The West End crow wag K. Douglas (stroke). .7. II ill, 1). Roekel and I. MePherson. The ngarei Rowing Club entertained the visitors at a smoke concert this evening.
