TRAINING TEACHERS
CHRISTGHURCH COLLEGE MANY OTAGO APPLICANTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DUNEDIN, Saturday
Applications from students in tho Otago and Southland education district for admission to the Christchurch Training College when it reopens next February closed with the Otago Education Board this week. There were 94 of division A students and 13 of division
C. The respective quotas for Otago are 38 and 3 of tho 94 applications received from division A students, those who have a pass or partial pass in tho training college entrance examination; 48 students have their homes in Dunedin and the vicinity. The 13 applicants under division C (graduate students) include nine who live in Otago. The. Dunedin Training College was closed at the end of 1932, and in 1933 the only colleges that were open were Christchurch and Auckland. All the colleges were closed this year. Tho Christchurch and Auckland colleges are to be reopened next year, but evidently will not provide facilities for all the students desiring to bo trained as school teachers.
